Jamie Carruthers
Founder of East Coaster Studios
From the East Coast to the North Bay Community
Founded by Jamie Carruthers, East Coaster Studios is the creative heart of a journey that spans from the shores of Nova Scotia to the community of North Bay. A science and biology teacher by trade, Jamie moved to Ontario in 2000, bringing with him a lifelong passion for the arts. What began as a personal endeavor into painting and pottery has rapidly evolved into a vibrant brand and a premier concert series. Inspired by the mentorship of East Coast icons like Terra Spencer and Dave Gunning, Jamie has transitioned from a supporter to a leading promoter, bringing world-class songwriters and performers to intimate stages from the Maritimes to Northern Ontario. Jamie now runs these shows with support from his son, Connor Carruthers, who is a past performer himself in the concert series.
Art with a Purpose
At its core, East Coaster Studios is defined by a commitment to giving back. In the past 2 years, the studio has raised more than $40,000 for vital initiatives, including Kids Help Phone, the Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention, and local programs like One Kids Place and Chippewa Secondary School’s music department.
We are proud to support OutLoud North Bay which was the largest fundraiser event we hosted, generating $10,000 to support children in need.
Whether it is an intimate house concert for 25 people, a songwriting workshop with an East Coast legend or a sold out Joel Plaskett show, every event is an opportunity to support the cultural and social fabric of the regions we call home.
Creativity in Every Creation
Beyond the stage, Jamie is an avid painter and potter. His distinct artwork often pays homage to the animals and landscapes of his home province. His work can be found in homes across Canada—from Vancouver to Newfoundland—and is celebrated for its character and craftsmanship. From the popular ‘Take a Hike’ series to his signature ‘Sharkuterie’ boards, the art produced at East Coaster Studios reflects a blend of East Coast heritage and a deep appreciation for the creative process.

How do I order tickets for an event?
To ensure a fast and secure checkout, all our ticketing is handled through Ticketscene. Simply click the “Get Tickets” button on any of our event cards or visit our official promoter page. Once your purchase is complete, you will receive an email confirmation with your digital tickets. There is no need to email the studio to confirm your spot; your Ticketscene receipt is your guaranteed entry.
How can my business become a sponsor?

Jamie will review your details and reach out with a Partner Information Kit and the next steps to organize your payment and logo placement.
