I imagine many people have seen this announcement by now but I wanted to get a post out to my web site (which I sadly have neglected for a few weeks).

PEI folk musician, Shane Pendergast, is coming to North Bay to headline an incredible concert on March 13th in support of the Sluman family. Shane is an award winning singer-songwriter who is keeping the Maritime folk traditions alive. This will be his North Bay debut. An opening set will be performed by North Bay’s own Lynn Blunt.

Through generous donations and support I am able to offer tickets to this event free of charge. You can go on to TicketScene and reserve your spots for this show for free! You can make a donation to the Sluman family at the door if you feel you are able to contribute.

As an incentive to book your ticket online and show up on the night of the show there is an incredible prize up for grabs! All people who book in advance and attend the night of the show are entered into a draw to win two tickets to Foo Fighters in Toronto on August 4th! These are great floor seats valued at more than $580!

The day after the big show (March 14th) Shane will be hosting a songwriting workshop put on by Spicy Maple Studios and east Coaster Studios. Spots are limited for this workshop!

It’s been an unbelievable first half of the East Coaster Studios Presents concert series. So far we have seen J.P Cormier, Lennie Gallant, Ian Sherwood, Joel and Bill Plaskett, and Jud Gunning with Connor Carruthers.

I have three big shows left in the series (along with a couple of not yet announced pop up shows in the works)! The last three headline shows feature legends of the Canadian music scene.

For those that haven’t heard the news yet the Joel Plaskett and Ian Sherwood show was a massive success! Having Joel’s Dad, Bill Plaskett, as a surprise guest was a real treat. We raised $10,610 for OUTLoud North Bay!!!

The final show of 2025 is also a deeply personal one with my son, Connor Carruthers, helping Jud Gunning out on some tunes and maybe performing a couple on his own. Jud is a guitar prodigy from Nova Scotia who stuns audiences every time he plays. His father has played here several times but this will be Jud’s first trip to North Bay! Ian Sherwood warmed some hearts on a cold and rainy North Bay November night.

On Nov. 15th 12 lucky songwriters ranging from ‘newbies’ to ‘old hats’ attended an afternoon workshop led by Ian. By the end of the session there was plenty of inspiration and some pretty impressive starts on new co-writes.

That evening Ian absolutely wowed the audience as he worked through a set list that spanned all of his albums with a focus on his latest release, Broken Little Heart. It’s fair to say that the audience was mesmerized by his musicality and talent with the looper!

You still have a chance to see Ian perform a set on Monday night, Nov 17th as he opens for another Nova Scotian gem, Joel Plaskett.

Ian Sherwood is coming to North Bay in advance of his big show with Joel Plaskett for the OutLoud charity event. This allows me to offer an incredible opportunity for emerging and established songwriters! Ian will be running a songwriting workshop on Nov. 15th from 12.30 to 4.30 P.M. Registration is only $50 for adults and $40 dollars for students! Registration includes admission to an intimate solo performance that evening beginning at 6.30 P.M.

Both events are being held at Trinity United Church in North Bay.

The full concert series has been announced and the latest show to be added features iconic Nova Scotian musician, Joel Plaskett! I am so pumped about this.
