Previous Concerts and Events

August 11th, 2024 – Terra Spencer and Jud Gunning

This concert was the first concert I ever did and was an art and music show featuring several local artisans (including my art and pottery) followed by a concert event. The show was held at the Little Harbour Community Centre. My son, Connor, opened the show with a couple of tunes and then Terra and Jud each did a set. A proper campfire party followed the show!

October 21st, 2024 – Terra Spencer with opener Connor Carruthers

I had so much fun the first show I decided to keep things rolling with the east Coaster Studios presents concert series in North Bay. It only made sense to have Terra come back for the inaugural North Bay show. She made a special request of Connor to open the show. It was great to host ‘Ma’ and Terra for the first time in North Bay.

December 8th, 2024 – Ben Caplan with opener Rose-Erin Stokes

I am a big fan of Ben Caplan and with my newfound confidence in running a couple of shows I reached out to his agent. When we were able to work this date out I was thrilled and North Bay was treated to a spectacular show! Some Ben Caplan fans arrived and many new ones were created that night. Local singer-songwriter Rose-Erin Stokes warmed up the crowd first!

April 28th, 2025 – Madison Violet and Terra Spencer

The Madison Violet and Terra Spencer show was an ambitious undertaking. I was perhaps to naive to realize what I was getting myself into but I approached One Kids Place Children’s Treatment Centre about running a charity concert and silent auction for the Family Support Program. I was thrilled to book Madison Violet for this and having Terra come back to support the cause was truly special. I am a big fan of Madison Violet but had not yet seen them live so it was an honour for me to present them in North Bay and get to spend some time with these remarkable people. Mark Carney called the election for this date and that took a toll on attendance but we still had a great crowd our and were able to raise thousands of dollars for the Family Support Program. It was a great event to incorporate some of my pottery and art. Lots of my pieces went to the silent auction and Lisa, Brenley, Jake and Terra each got a ‘Take a Hike’ mug!

May 26th, 2025 – Dave Gunning and Rose Morrison

The second major fundraising concert event happened to support the Chippewa music program to help upgrade the theatre. I called upon my friend, Dave Gunning, to come and help with this show and he brought along the incredibly talented Rose Morrison for this show. The night started with some Chippewa students, past and present, doing some numbers before Dave and Rose took the stage. We had a huge supportive crowd out for this event and raised a lot of money through the silent auction and ticket sales! Having students join Dave and Rose on stage for ‘These Hands’ was a moment that won’t soon be forgotten. This was a truly special night to have Dave and Rose come up to do the show and hang out afterward.

July 8th, 2025 – Ian Sherwood and The Celtic Ladies

East Coaster Studios Concert series debuted the summer series with a spectacular concert featuring vocal powerhouse trio, The Celtic Ladies, and two time winner of Music Nova Scotia’s entertainer of the year, Ian Sherwood. This show was the first in what is shaping up to be many shows in partnership with Trinity United Church in New Glasgow. Special guest, Coco Love Alcorn, joined Ian for few numbers to close out the show. It is quite fitting that Coco joined us as her uncle, Andrew Alcorn, was on sound for the summer concert series.

August 9th, 2025 – Ben Caplan with opener Darrel Cameron

We had so much fun doing the show in North Bay that Ben and I began discussing plans for New Glasgow. At first we didn’t think we could find a date but circumstances changed and we were able to pull this one off! I knew I wanted Darrel Cameron to open this show. Darrel is a gifted musician and a heck of a nice guy and it was great to bring him back to his home county. This was a spectacular show with Darrel representing the calm before the storm that is Ben Caplan. I’m sure that grand piano at Trinity United Church has never been played like that before. Darrel and Ben are both artists you need to check out! This night also featured the work of a few local artists including my pottery and art. The summer concert series and art auction was able to raise some money to help support Songwriters From Here and Away!

Special thanks to Richard Lann (@buddylovesham) for capturing some spectacular images of the night!
